Although I wasn't promoting my own music (much), I had great fun playing some of the movie, musical theatre, and TV music that has influenced and inspired me over the years. It was an eclectic mix. The first two songs I played were about songwriting, and they set the tone for the rest of my hour. "One Song Glory" from Rent is about a songwriter's wish to write one great song before he dies. "Clementine" by Tom Lehrer is a hilarious exploration of how that drab folk song would have turned out if Cole Porter, Mozart, a cool jazz artist, or Gilbert & Sullivan had written it.
I'm planning to be on the Norman Bates show again in 2008. Stay tuned!
